The fee charts below are for Fire Code Permit submittals obtained by the Fire Marshal's Office at 70 W. Hedding Street

Our jurisdiction covers Santa Clara County's unincorporated areas

FLAT FEE RATE ADJUSTMENTS EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2009

Some of our Flat Fee rates will be altered slightly due to a change in our regular hourly rate from $140.00 to $147.00 (5%).

  • Our OVERTIME HOURLY RATE will remain the same, keeping fees for Fireworks, Special Events, overtime inspections and plan reviews unchanged.
  • Residential Sprinkler Submittal Fee will decrease from the current $630.00 to the new fee of $588.00 starting July 1, 2009.
  • Five (5) new fees have been added to the current Flat Fee Chart.

When submitting for a Fire Code Permit at our office you will pay either a Flat fee or one based on the project Valuation. If you wish to determine the fee for your project before you submit please continue reading.

PDF downloads of both fee charts are available by each section.

Permit submittals and payment of fees must be made between the hours of 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 1:00 - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

NOTE: Payment must be in the form of Cash or Check, and can not be accepted after 4:30 PM.

Hourly rates are charged when a project goes over the Flat Fee minimum.  Taking a look at our Flat Fee chart you will see several Flat Fees show the fee is based on a certain number of hours, a minimum. For example an Alternate Means base fee has a two (2) hour minimum, if the time spent on either review or inspection adds up to over two (2) hours an additional fee may be charged. This additional fee is based on our Straight-Time Hourly Rate.

Overtime fees are charged when a project requests and receives approval by the Assistant Fire Marshal for outside of regular business hours plan review, inspection, firewatch or other service.
